The Cock at Pavenham

The Cock public house stands proudly at the heart of Pavenham, North Bedfordshire. The pub is the hub of the village with locals gathering to chat, eat and drink in the cosy bar. Sadly this was not always the case. The Cock, like many other village pubs closed its doors in January 2009 another casualty of the recession, government and greedy pubco's. By sheer accident the empty pub came to the attention of two Bedfordshire businessmen, Greg Nicholl and Paul Cox. Greg and Paul are no strangers to the hospitality industry. They were the founders and directors of the highly acclaimed Nicholl's Brasseries, which ran restaurants on The Embankment, Bedford. Greg and Paul with long standing friend and collegue Andy Wray bought The Cock in May 2009. After a lick of paint, some refurbishment in the kitchen and a bit of T.L.C the doors re-opened on June 12th 2009 and trading has been steady with fantastic local support and a growing food trade. Scott Sneddon another long standing buddy runs the bar and small restaraunt, with Greg, Andy, Tommy and Rob handling the kitchen and whatever else needs to be done. The food is a mixture of pub favourites alongside a small a la carte menu of well cooked seasonal dishes. Scott keeps a good cellar, Greene King IPA, Fullers London Pride and a weekly changing Finest  Cask Ale sit alongside a wide choice of lagers, cider and wine. Greg Nicholl and Paul Cox have other business interests across Bedfordshire which include the provision of hospitality at Jonathon Palmer's, Bedford Autodrome at Thurleigh. They are also involved with Michelin starred restaurant chain A.M.R which has recently acquired Paris House in the grounds of Woburn Abbey
